Celebrate National Caregivers Day Today!

  • Thank the caregivers and use  #thankacaregiver and #nationalcaregiversday on social media

National Caregivers Day is Friday, February 18, and NAHC is urging everyone in home health, home care, and hospice to use the occasion to draw attention to the selfless work caregivers do all over the country.

On National Caregivers Day we honor those who give endlessly of their own time and energy to help our loved ones live better lives. It especially applies to those caregivers who help our elderly friends, family, and neighbors who require long-term care in home care, home health, and hospice.

The third Friday of February is the perfect time to show your appreciation to professional caregivers who assist America’s most vulnerable citizens, and also show some appreciation for the unpaid caregivers you know are making a big difference in the lives of others.

We should all show more appreciation for the caregivers among us every day, but on Friday we must all make a special point of doing so. Words of gratitude and even a small gift would, we are certain, be greatly appreciated by the many over-worked caregivers providing care and comfort to the neediest among us.

Post to social media

NAHC will be posting regularly to social media on February 19 about caregivers and National Caregivers Day. We hope you will do the same. You can use the hashtag #nationalcaregiversday on social media to share your support. Include a short description of what makes the caregivers in your life so special. If you tag @OfficialNAHC in your posts, we will retweet and amplify your message.

Other ideas to thank caregivers

A small gift to the caregiver(s) in your life would be a wonderful idea on February 19. Some suggestions are:

  • Books (if the caregiver is a voracious reader)
  • Gift cards to her or his favorite store
  • Baked goods
  • Massage
  • Manicure/Pedicure
  • Hand lotions/cream
  • Aromatherapy candles/diffuser
  • Donation to a worthy cause in the name of the caregiver

And if you cannot give a gift, a simple note or letter or email of appreciation would be, well, appreciated, we are quite certain.
