NAHC Summer Backyard Advocacy: Flood of Letters to the Editor

Welcome to Week 4 of the 2021 Summer Backyard Advocacy Campaign!

We are halfway through our summer advocacy push, and this year, NAHC is encouraging advocates for the home care and hospice communities to write letters to the editor of your local news publications.

What is a Letter to the Editor?

When you feel strongly about an issue or a piece of legislation and you want to influence people to act, you often need to reach a larger audience than your close circle of influence. Writing a short and concise letter to your local newspaper or other regularly published community newsletter can be an excellent vehicle to get the word out and generate additional support for your cause. Letters to the editor are often the most widely read pieces in newspapers or magazines and can be extremely powerful.

How you can Help

We encourage you to speak from the heart and explain why congress should act on behalf of the home care and hospice communities. NAHC has created a toolkit with some helpful tips on how to write an effective letter to the editor.

However, if you need a little help, NAHC has created a few examples of draft letters to get you started.

Not ready to write a letter?

Not everyone is ready to take up the ink and paper (or in this day and age, the computer keys and screen) to write a letter, BUT you can still advocate. The NAHC Advocacy Center is open 24/7 and with just a few quick clicks, you can show your support for all those out on the front lines. It literally takes seconds! Visit today https://p2a.co/zr0juwz.

On behalf of everyone at the National Association for Home Care and Hospice, thank you, for choosing to be an advocate for the home care and hospice communities.

Every Voice, Every Heart, Every Action
