U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Updates Home Health and Personal Care Aide Descriptions

On March 8, 2021, The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) made updates to the Home Health and Personal Care Aide job descriptions within the Occupational Outlook Handbook.

On a routine basis, occupational descriptions are made by the BLS to ensure accuracy of information and available statistics.

BLS employees reached out to a number of leaders within the home care industry, including staff members of the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC) to better understand the occupation.

Updates to work environment, job outlook, pay, and training and educational requirements were included.
